Off to the river

Have a meeting with the TIAA-CREF advisor in Charlottesville and left a little late to hit the Starbucks. So after the meeting got my cappucino and made my way up old Rt 20 to Fredericksburg. The stretch of Rt 20 goes through all the scenic horse farms on it’s way to Barboursville. Arrived in Barboursville around noon and had to stop at the Stonefire Kitchen. This is an awesome place with local and organic ingredients. I noticed a “cod chowder” on the menu and had to order (as the soup and 1/2 sandwich combo). It was just like my mom’s “fish chowder” and took me back to my childhood days. Upon request the chef came over and told me how he made it (including ingredients); and I think I remember 1/2 of what he said (should have turned on the record function of the old iphone!). After lunch I was back on the road to Colonial Beach and a weekend of rest. I was great to get to the cottage and have running water (no frozen pipes this time!!). Now to enjoy the rest of the weekend…

ICCP Board Meeting.

Well off to Chicago this weekend for my first ICCP Board meeting since being elected to the Board. Same hotel, same meeting, different cast of characters. In some ways seems like I just stepped out of the room 3 years ago and now stepped back in; in other ways it’s a whole new experience. Most of us have gotten older! Hoping the flight out of Chicago is one time, last 3 times here it’s been a marathon trying to get home.
